The Geraldton Ontario Hospital Addition is a recent expansion of the Geraldton District Hospital, located in the town of Geraldton, Ontario, Canada. The expansion was designed to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to patients in the surrounding area.
The addition includes a new wing that houses an expanded emergency department, modern operating rooms, and a new surgical suite. The emergency department is equipped with advanced medical technology and staffed by highly trained healthcare professionals who provide prompt and efficient care to patients with a variety of medical needs. The operating rooms are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment to support a wide range of surgical procedures, from routine to complex.
The addition was constructed from structural steel floor framing and cast in place concrete stairwells and elevators providing the lateral load resisting system. The design includes a striking entrance canopy to the new and expanded emergency department supported by cantilevered structural steel framing.
* This structural design was led by Brian van Bussel while with a previous employer.
