Mount Sinai Hospital’s Renew Sinai Phase 3A revitalization, officially completed in mid 2024, marks the largest redevelopment in its history. With a provincial investment of $383 million, the project refurbished over 323,000 ft²—about the area of five football fields—while keeping the hospital fully operational.

Highlights include a dramatically expanded Emergency Department—now a 24,000 ft² Schwartz/Reisman Centre capable of handling up to 80,000 visits annually— equipped with procedure rooms, imaging suites, isolation zones, EMS-dedicated entry, and private patient bays. The ICU was overhauled into the new 36 bed, pod based Kimel Schatzky unit, featuring enhanced infectious control, natural light, and family amenities.

The surgical suite boasts 19 state of the art ORs, including CT imaging and robotic assisted rooms. The medical/surgical inpatient unit was augmented by 28 beds. A new in house kitchen now serves 800+ meals daily with personalized menus and efficient tech. An upgraded ambulatory care area and improved infrastructure—including elevators, façade lighting, and wayfinding—complete the transformation.
