The Thompson Recreation and Athletic Centre and the Western Student Recreation Centre together form the heart of athletic and wellness life at Western University. These interconnected facilities offer a seamless blend of high-performance athletic space and inclusive recreational amenities for the broader campus community.
The Thompson Recreation and Athletic Centre, known for its iconic cable-supported roof, houses a large indoor track, multi-sport courts, and serves as a venue for varsity training and competitive events. Its structural design reflects a focus on expansive, open spaces capable of accommodating a variety of sports and large audiences.
Adjacent and physically connected to Thompson, the Western Student Recreation Centre (WSRC) complements the athletic focus with a wellness-oriented approach. This multi-level facility features fitness studios, weight rooms, aquatics facilities, and flexible spaces for group classes and student gatherings. Architecturally, the WSRC introduces a modern, light filled design that emphasizes accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement.
