Gary is one of the founding partners of VanBoxmeer & Stranges Engineering Ltd. and has been part of the firm’s story for more than 30 years. While he began phasing into retirement in 2023, Gary remains the beating heart of the VB&S family.

Construction has always been woven into Gary’s life. Growing up in a “construction family,” he spent his early years on job sites surrounded by materials, tools, and builders—experiences that gave him a practical understanding of how projects come together long before he became an engineer. That hands-on perspective has shaped his career and continues to guide his approach today.

Over the years, Gary has contributed to a wide range of projects and earned a reputation for finding solutions that are practical, cost-conscious, and truly buildable. He takes pride in designs that don’t just work in theory but translate seamlessly into real-world construction.

At VB&S, Gary has played a guiding role in leading the structural team through the design and tender process. He has especially valued mentoring younger engineers, sharing the lessons he’s gathered throughout his career, and ensuring every set of drawings is clear, precise, and ready to support a successful build. For Gary, the most rewarding part of his work has always been watching a project rise from the page into reality.e page into reality.
