Dr. Oetker completed a significant expansion of its London, Ontario frozen pizza manufacturing facility to meet growing North American demand. The project built upon the original 2014 investment, adding cold-storage and freezer capacity, and packaging systems to substantially increase output and operational efficiency. The expansion allowed the plant to accommodate new product varieties and formats while improving flexibility in distribution.
Key upgrades included enhanced automation, improved dough handling systems, and increased warehouse and cold storage and freezer space. The investment supported job growth in the region and reinforced Dr. Oetker’s commitment to sourcing ingredients from Canadian suppliers. This expansion also incorporated sustainability measures such as energy-efficient refrigeration systems and waste reduction initiatives.
By increasing capacity and optimizing logistics, the London facility became a strategic production hub for Dr. Oetker’s North American operations, strengthening the local economy and positioning the company for long-term competitiveness in the frozen food market.
Dr. Oetker’s London, Ontario facility expansion added a 15,000 ft² slab-on grade structure to accommodate high density racking, cold storage, and production equipment. The addition features conventional steel framing with open web joists and wide flange beams, allowing for clear spans and efficient layouts. Integration with the existing plant required meticulous phasing to avoid disrupting operations. Designed for optimal thermal performance, the build included insulated panels, thermally isolated baseplates, and freezer slab detailing with movable racking rails. Clear heights of 14.6 m (48 ft.) enable impressive storage capacity, supporting Dr. Oetker’s continued growth in cold chain logistics and food production efficiency.
