Situated at 475 King St E in vibrant downtown Kitchener, Vertikal is a sleek, two tower rental apartment project by Drewlo Holdings, with 19 and 22 storey towers rising above a four level podium. Together they will house 488 units—primarily modern one and two bedroom layouts— with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and in suite climate control.
The ground level will feature approximately 4,000 m² of retail space—ideal for cafés or shops—leveraging foot traffic from King Street and the nearby LRT stop . Secure underground parking (384 stalls) and ample bicycle storage support sustainable urban lifestyles.
Construction is underway with completion expected in late 2024 or early 2025 . Located in a walkable, transit friendly area—near LRT, Grand River Transit, and local amenities—Vertikal offers modern rental living with true downtown convenience.
The Vertikal project at 475 King Street East presented notable structural engineering challenges due to its twin-tower configuration rising from a shared four storey podium. The proximity to the LRT corridor required careful vibration mitigation and coordination with transit authorities. Deep excavation for the underground parking structure had to contend with challenging soil conditions and adjacent property constraints, necessitating a robust shoring system and precise staging. The design also had to accommodate transfer slabs to support the tower footprints above large retail spaces. Structural coordination across phased construction added complexity to material staging and formwork sequencing throughout the multi-level podium.
